Most antioxidants protect one side of the cell, but astaxanthin spans the full membrane by anchoring across both the inner and outer layers. That's why one molecule can reach your dog's joints, eyes, brain, liver, skin, and immune system at once. It doesn't pick one problem. It protects the whole dog.
Astaxanthin crosses both the blood-brain barrier and the blood-retinal barrier, which means it reaches the brain and the eyes where most antioxidants can't go. In dogs, this is how it protects cognitive function and vision at the same time, especially as they age.*
In a study on aging dogs, astaxanthin increased ATP production by 14% and mitochondrial enzymes by over 500% after just 8 weeks. Mitochondria are the energy factories in every cell, so when they work better your dog moves better, recovers faster, and ages slower. (Park et al., J Anim Sci, 2012)*
This isn't a human supplement repackaged with a paw print on the label. Astaxanthin has been studied in Beagle dogs across multiple peer-reviewed trials measuring liver function, immune response, mitochondrial health, coat quality, exercise recovery, and eye health. The results are specific to dogs.*
Astaxanthin is fat-soluble, so without a lipid carrier most of it passes straight through the gut unabsorbed. We dissolve it in a salmon oil and olive oil blend because the oil doesn't just carry the astaxanthin, it activates it. Research shows monounsaturated fatty acids maximize astaxanthin bioavailability.*
Comprehensive injury recovery solutions:
From senior dogs getting their spark back to active breeds recovering faster, pet parents are seeing the difference in weeks, not months.
VERIFIED BUYER, GOLDEN RETRIEVER, AGE 9
My golden was limping on our morning walk. Three weeks after starting this oil, she trotted the whole loop without stopping. I stood on the sidewalk and cried. She hadn't done that in over a year.
VERIFIED BUYER, GERMAN SHEPHERD, AGE 7
His coat went from dull and rough to silky in about a month. I kept running my hand down his back because it didn't feel like the same dog. The groomer asked what changed. That's when I knew it was working.
VERIFIED BUYER, LABRADOR, AGE 11
Our vet noticed the difference before we told her what we changed. She asked what we were doing differently because his bloodwork looked better than it had in two years. That's when I knew this was the real deal.
INTEGRATIVE VETERINARIAN
Astaxanthin is one of the most underused ingredients in canine nutrition. The research on mitochondrial function alone is compelling, with a 14% increase in ATP production and over 500% increase in mitochondrial enzymes in aging dogs. That's not marketing, that's published data.

increase in mitochondrial enzymes in aging dogs after 8 weeks of daily astaxanthin†
faster exercise recovery because astaxanthin dogs hit pre-exercise lactate in 30 min vs 60 min for controls†
adverse effects reported across all published canine astaxanthin studies, safe at every dose tested†

Astaxanthin works at the cellular level, which is why it shows up everywhere and not just one place.
Astaxanthin neutralizes the free radicals that break down cartilage and stiffen joints. Research shows it lowers inflammation markers and supports exercise recovery in dogs.*
Protects skin cells from UV and environmental oxidative damage. Dogs showed visibly improved coat shininess and quality in clinical studies, some in as little as 6 weeks.*
One of the only antioxidants that crosses both the blood-brain barrier and the blood-retinal barrier, protecting your dog's vision and cognitive function as they age.*
Clinically shown to improve liver enzyme profiles and enhance immune response while supporting healthy lipid metabolism in both healthy and overweight dogs.*
Follow your progress and see what's ahead on your path to success
Astaxanthin begins accumulating in your dog's cells, including plasma, lipoproteins, and mitochondria. Research shows it's detectable within 6 hours and builds steadily with daily use. You might not see visible changes yet, but antioxidant protection is already working at the cellular level.*
The coat starts to shift, getting shinier and softer with less shedding. You might notice they're getting up a little easier after a nap or lasting a little longer on walks. Liver function begins improving as lipid metabolism comes into balance.*
This is where the compounding kicks in. Mitochondrial ATP production has increased, joint mobility improves noticeably, and energy comes back. That spark in their eyes that you thought was fading shows up again, and your vet might notice the difference in bloodwork.*
Benefits continue building with consistent daily use. The coat stays brilliant, joints stay loose, eyes stay clear, and immune function stays strong. This is what healthy aging looks like when it's powered by an antioxidant that works at every level of the cell.*
My 10-year-old lab couldn't make it up the stairs anymore. Six weeks on this oil and she's taking them two at a time again. I videoed it and sent it to everyone in my family. We all cried.
I started this because my shepherd's coat looked terrible, dry and patchy and dull. Four weeks in and the groomer asked what we changed. I just said 'astaxanthin' and she wrote it down for her own dog.
Our vet asked what we changed. His bloodwork looked better than it had in two years. When I told her it was just an astaxanthin oil on his food, she wrote the name down for her other patients.

Yes. Astaxanthin from natural microalgae has been studied in dogs at doses up to 40mg daily with zero reported adverse effects across all published research. One study gave diabetic dogs 12mg daily for 90 days with no problems, and it's one of the most well-tolerated antioxidants in canine nutrition. If your dog is on blood thinners, talk to your vet first because astaxanthin can have a mild blood-thinning effect.*
Astaxanthin is fat-soluble, so without a lipid carrier most of it passes right through your dog's gut without being absorbed. The oil isn't an add-on, it's the delivery system. Research shows the bioavailability of astaxanthin is significantly enhanced when it's in a lipid-based formula. We use a salmon oil and olive oil blend because studies show monounsaturated fatty acids like those in olive oil are the most effective matrix for maximizing astaxanthin absorption.*
Most pet parents notice a shinier coat within 3-4 weeks, and joint and mobility improvements typically become visible around weeks 5-8 with consistent daily use. Research shows astaxanthin reaches peak plasma levels at 6 hours post-dose and continues building in the body over 15-16 days of supplementation. It's a compounding molecule, so the longer your dog stays on it the more the benefits build.*
The formula is dissolved in wild-caught salmon oil and dogs love the taste. Just add the drops to their food, whether that's kibble, wet food, raw, or whatever they eat. Most dogs lick the bowl clean. If your dog somehow doesn't take to it, our 30-Day Tail-Wagging Guarantee has you covered.
Yes. Research on astaxanthin uptake in dogs and cats shows both species have similar biokinetic profiles, which means they absorb and use astaxanthin the same way. Use the small dog dose for most cats (3 drops daily) and they get the same antioxidant protection for eyes, coat, joints, and immune function.*
Then you get your money back. Our 30-Day Tail-Wagging Guarantee is simple: if you don't see a real difference in your dog's coat, energy, or mobility, just email us for a full refund. No return required and no hoops. We'd rather refund you than have your dog on something that isn't working for them.
Give your dog the full bottle, and if you don't see a visible difference in their coat, their energy, or the way they move, we'll refund every penny. No return required, no fine print, no hoops. Either your dog thrives or it's on us.
